“I am pleased to announce that Euronews and Silknet have signed an MOU ahead of launching Euronews Georgia, a news channel and digital platform aimed at a Georgian-speaking audience.
This is a hugely exciting development for Silknet, marking a historic partnership with a renowned name in independent journalism. This will be the third franchise project for Euronews, following only Serbia and Albania. In each country, Euronews offers content adapted to local audiences, whilst maintaining its track record of providing impartial, trustworthy and global news.
Silknet, as the leading telecommunications company in Georgia, is not a newcomer to the national TV market. However, this agreement is unique as it will bring the first channel to Georgia which is both global and local, featuring original Georgian content alongside Euronews editorial content.
This agreement highlights the strategic importance of Georgia to Europe and the world. Showcasing Georgia to the world is at the heart of everything we do at Silk Road Group and this is why we are so proud of this agreement with Euronews.
The establishment of a news channel has long been part of Silknet’s long term development strategy and the Euronews deal is a perfect embodiment of these plans. Silknet has a history of partnering with international brands, such as National Geographic, and this new partnership is another exciting project with a household name in Western media.
The agreement also highlights the strategic importance of Georgia to Europe and the world, and we can’t wait to see the amazing stories that will be told!”
