Silknet has received a mobile network testing award from Ookla, the global leader in fixed broadband and mobile network testing applications, in recognition of having the fastest mobile network speeds in Georgia. Ookla revealed the results after a major data analytics research programme conducted through its widely popular network testing app, Speedtest.com.
Ookla performed internet speed testing on Georgia’s mobile network for a 6-month period during the second half of 2020. The duration of the testing period ensured any short-term fluctuations in performance did not significantly influence the final analysis. The research found that Silknet delivers customers the fastest network speeds of any carrier in Georgia.
The world-renowned US-based company conducts internet speed testing through its Speedtest.com app, using data from hundreds of millions of users around the world. Ookla’s data analytics platform identifies the best fixed and mobile networks available to consumers in a specific geographic area. Ookla’s solutions are used by more than 200 mobile carriers and internet service providers around the globe and have been translated into over 30 languages for use by thousands of businesses, governments, universities and trade organizations.
“We are delighted that our recent efforts to strengthen the Geocell network have borne fruit and proved that we are the best network in terms of quality and speed,” said David Mamulaishvili, Silknet’s CEO. “It’s our ambition to be the first choice network for Georgian consumers. Everything we do is for the benefit of our customers.”
“This award from such a prestigious data, analytics and speed testing company is a vindication of our work. It will only spur us on to carry on building the most robust network in Georgia. Keeping up with the world’s technological advances and offering the best possible network experience to our customers is a permanent process.”
